In a 21-17 vote last night, Albany County became the first municipality in New York State to end the sale of tobacco in pharmacies and in stores that contain a pharmacy. If approved by County Executive Dan McCoy, the new law would go into effect on March 1, 2015 and reduce the number of tobacco retailers in Albany County by about fifty, a 15% reduction overall.

Congratulations to the Albany County Legislature for taking a stand for public health!
