The Town of East Greenbush is inviting public comment to consider the adoption of a local law that prohibits smoking and vaping on town property, including in town parks. The stated intent of the proposed law is to preserve and improve the public’s health by improving the air quality in public areas owned and operated by the Town of East Greenbush.

The public hearing is scheduled for 6:45 pm Wednesday, April 20 at Town Hall, 225 Columbia Turnpike, just prior to the regularly scheduled Town Board meeting, and members of the public are invited to share their opinions about the proposed law.

The Town of East Greenbush currently discourages tobacco use in park playgrounds, playing and athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts and the dog park. The proposed law would prohibit the smoking and vaping of tobacco products and cannabis on all town property. You can read the specific provisions of the proposed law here.

Written comments may be submitted to the Town Board by email to epangburn@eastgreenbush.org or by mail to the Town Board, Town of East Greenbush, 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, New York 12144 at any time prior to the hearing.
