Reality Check members create video for Seen Enough Tobacco Day

Reality Check members created a  video exposing the dangers of nicotine and flavored tobacco products for Seen Enough Tobacco Day, an annual awareness day which falls on October 13. The “scary” video was shown at the Albany Boys and Girls Club Haunted House on October 25th  to warn attendees that “nicotine is the ultimate brain eater, turning sharp minds into zombie mush one puff at a time.“ The video ends with “Stop the Sale of Flavored Vapes.” While NYS banned the sale of flavored e-cigarettes containing nicotine in 2020, they continue to be available in local stores due to loopholes in the law.

Personal message from Director, Judy Rightmyer, who after 23 years of leadership and service, retires at the end of June 2024. Judy’s passion, persistence and vision have been the driving force behind the journey toward a tobacco-free Capital District. Her retirement may mark the end of an era, but her legacy will fuel our continued efforts to build an even safer and healthier community. If you know Judy at all, you know she is a woman always on the move.

Albany High photography students use art to spotlight impact of flavored vapes on youth

Under the direction of teacher David Easton, Albany High School photography students were “hired” by CDTFC to design educational posters calling attention to young people’s use of flavored vapes and the need to bolster enforcement of NYS law prohibiting their continued sale. These three submissions were selected for their powerful imagery and adherence to the theme.
