Albany County hosts kickoff to behavioral health tobacco-free initiative
Dr. Steve Giordano (pictured), Director of the Albany County Department of Mental Health addresses the crowd at a kickoff bar-b-q earlier today announcing the department's initiative to address tobacco use among those living with mental illness. The Department is participating in the Tri-County Behavioral Health for Tobacco-Free Living initiative, a project supported by the Center for Smoking Cessation at Seton Health and the Capital District Tobacco-Free Coalition. City of Albany to vote on tobacco-free parks ordinance Monday, August 4
Albany Common Council Member Dorcey Applyrs has introduced a local ordinance to make city parks tobacco-free, an expansion of the current policy which limits tobacco-free areas to pools, playgrounds and sports fields. Council Members Conti, Doesschate and Kornegay have signed on in support of the proposed ordinance which is scheduled for a vote on Monday, August 4 at the regularly scheduled Common Council meeting.
